Some events between January and June 2006

Here some text pasted from Saman's progress report that we sent to the Sri Lankan adoption authorities in June 2006.

No major happenings took place in the past six months. However, the End of Year Celebration at Andinet School this time took place in a real theatre. As the school had grown, it was no longer possible to have the celebration at the modest school premises. So a nearby movie theatre was hired and more relatives could see the children perform. Saman was not nervous at all and when it was the turn of his class to sing a song, we could hear his voice enthusiastically, louder than most other children.
A few days before the End of Year Celebration, the school had an international day, in which students were asked to appear in their national dress. Saman wore a sarong and colourful shirt to show his Sri Lankan heritage, but at the same time had Dutch wooden clogs on his feet. He looked very beautiful. Saman and his little brother Yekuno love to walk around on the clogs, because they sound so wonderful when you walk.
Saman still loves to go to school every morning and just finished pre-KG, the preparatory year for kindergarten. His teacher tells that he is very serious and concentrated with all tasks he has to perform. We are surprised that he can already recognize the numbers 1 till 10 and all the letters. He is already able to write his name.
